Support > Check Email SquirrelMail Notes
IMPORTANT: When you first use the SquirrelMail system please visit
Options->Personal Information Review the options and set your correct name and email address. This will assure that your full name and return email address are configured as desired.
NOTE: Customers who use both SquirrelMail (an IMAP client) and any POP clients may notice an email message with the subject line DON'T DELETE THIS MESSAGE -- FOLDER INTERNAL DATA which appears after downloading mail to their desktop with POP clients (such as Outlook or Eudora).
This message is automatically created by IMAP clients, such as SquirrelMail, for internal record keeping and is ignored (not displayed) by most email clients. If this message is inadvertently deleted from the server, our tests indicate it will be automatically regenerated the next time an IMAP client (such as SquirrelMail) is run.
In short, you can ignore this message. If this message is downloaded to your desktop via a POP client such as Eudora, you can delete it.
The IMAP message and content will look something like the following:
>O 1 MAILER-DAEMON Tue Sep 12 12:21 12/520 DON'T DELETE THIS MESSAGE
>From MAILER-DAEMON Sat Sep 9 20:29:19 2000
Date: Sat, 9 Sep 2000 20:29:19 -0500 (CDT)
From: Mail System Internal Data
Subject: DON'T DELETE THIS MESSAGE -- FOLDER INTERNAL DATA
X-IMAP: 0914378644 0000000255
Content-Length: 260
This text is part of the internal format of your mail folder, and is not a real message. It is created automatically by the mail system software. If deleted, important folder data will be lost, and it will be re-created with the data reset to initial values.
Contrary to the content of the message, our tests also show no loss of data or folder information after the file is regenerated.
